35 suspected Hizb ut-Tahrir members held in Bangladesh

DHAKA, Bangladesh – The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) detained 35 people believed to be members of the banned Islamist group Hizb ut-Tahrir during a raid of a Dhaka restaurant Sunday (August 12th), local media reported.

Jihadi leaflets and books were also seized from the detainees’ homes, Director of the RAB Media Wing M Sohael said. He told bdnews24.com that the RAB received a tip that the Hizb ut-Tahrir members were meeting at the restaurant while pretending to be breaking fast. Sohael added that RAB had primary confirmation that 27 of the detainees belonged to Hizb ut-Tahrir and were investigating the other eight to confirm their identities.
