Open Letter to the Media from Hizb ut Tahrir Wilayah Pakistan

Respected Journalists, Columnists and Staff of Media Houses

Assalaamu alaikum,

RasulAllah (saw) said: «الدين النصيحة» “The Deen is advice” [Muslim]. We address you in the capacity of being a Muslim. It is clearly witnessed that the National Action Plan has been used to pressurize all segments of society including the media. However, history has always proven that the brave and righteous confront and face the pressure rather than succumb to it.

You are all aware that traitors in our military and civilian leadership are busy plundering the nation and taking it to the brink of destruction. Be it the economic aspect where further IMF dictations have weakened our economy or the so called War on Terror where our soldiers are being sacrificed to strengthen the American grip in Afghanistan. Hizb ut Tahrir continuously exposes these tyrannies and is continuously working for a real change and a truly new Pakistan, under the Khilafah, which by the grace of Allah (swt) has raised the hopes of the Muslims.

In response to Hizb ut Tahrir’s struggle, the government backlash was expected as the people responded warmly to the call of the Hizb ut Tahrir in a widespread manner, at all levels of society. Consequently arrests, abductions, torture and false propaganda increased on a pattern similar to that adopted by the tyrant of the Quraysh, including Abu Jahl and Abu Lahab. Despite the tyranny, the Hizb ut Tahrir remains steadfast and continues the struggle without a moment’s pause or slowing down, because the Hizb ut Tahrir is well aware that working for Islam as an authority and rule is an obligation from Allah (swt) and such tests are part of treading the path to victory. The government has been busy spreading lies and slander regarding the Hizb ut Tahrir, and pressurizes you to do the same. However, some of you resist such pressure but some of you fell weak and became part of the slander, even though you are well aware of the truth.

O Muslims of the Media!

You have a great responsibility before Allah (swt) as you provide vital information of the affairs of the Ummah. When the thugs and slanderous mouthpieces of this corrupt government, which is waging open oppression against Muslims and Islam, meet you, your first and only consideration should be the words of Allah (swt):

﴿يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا إِنْ جَاءَكُمْ فَاسِقٌ بِنَبَإٍ فَتَبَيَّنُوا أَنْ تُصِيبُوا قَوْمًا بِجَهَالَةٍ فَتُصْبِحُوا عَلَى مَا فَعَلْتُمْ نَادِمِينَ﴾

“O you who believe! If an evildoer comes to you with a report, look carefully into it, lest you harm a people in ignorance, then be sorry for what you have done.” [Surah Hujarat: 49:6].

So in the case of the honored advocate for the Khilafah, Engineer Saham Qamar, amongst others, we ask those who succumbed to the oppressor, did you present the Hizb ut Tahrir‘s point of view, even though we are amongst you and our views are well known? Or did you just blindly convey the government’s lies, even though you know that their lying is a habit? Are you not well aware that the Hizb ut Tahrir is political party whose ideology is Islam and methodology is from Islam? Are you not aware that Hizb ut Tahrir’s methodology is a political and intellectual struggle, without involving any material struggle? So why did you belittle yourselves and undermine your own credibility as reliable sources of information?

Allah (swt) has made it clear that this Deen will prevail and RasulAllah (saaw) gave good tidings for the return of the Khilafah after the oppression. Ahmed narrated that RasulAllah (saw) said,

«ثُمَّ تَكُونُ مُلْكًا جَبْرِيَّةً فَتَكُونُ مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ أَنْ تَكُونَ ثُمَّ يَرْفَعُهَا إِذَا شَاءَ أَنْ يَرْفَعَهَا ثُمَّ تَكُونُ خِلَافَةً عَلَى مِنْهَاجِ النُّبُوَّةِ ثُمَّ سَكَتَ»

“Then there will be rule of force, and things will be as Allah wishes them to be. Then Allah will end it when He wishes. And then there will be a Khilafah on the Methodology of the Prophethood.” And then he fell silent.

So we ask you, will you follow the path of the Makkans who obeyed the lies of Abu Jahal and Abu Lahab, the curse of Allah (swt) on both of them, and succumbed to their pressure? Eventually, such people could not prevent Islam and most importantly they became amongst the losers in Aakhirah. Or will you follow the path of the Companions (ra) who stood for the truth and sustained the temporary pains of this Dunya, so that they could secure their Aakhirah and attain the pleasure of Allah? So fear none but Allah (swt) and make your publications and broadcasts beacons of guidance for the people, carrying information about Islam, its Khilafah upon the method of the Prophethood and the advocates of the Khilafah as much as you can. Fear that day when Allah (swt) will hold us accountable for every action and what a great sin it is to slander any Muslim, let alone those who are the front rows of sacrifice. Above all, do not ruin your Aakhira for the sake of corrupt rulers whose time is drawing to a close imminently!
