Ex-judge sent to jail for Hizb-ut link
He sought bail after surrendering before the court of Chittagong’s First Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge on Sunday.
But the court prescribed jail and sought his passport without issuing any order, the state counsel said.
Police seized anti-state leaflets and posters of Hizb-ut Tahrir from Sharif’s house in Chittagong’s South Khulshi on May 16, 2010.
Several copies of his book on the banned outfit ‘Etai Amar Path’ (this is my way) were also seized.
He was a tenant there while serving as Feni’s assistant judge.
A case was filed with Khulshi police over the seizure but he could not be traced.
