Hizb Ut-Tahrir says three members sentenced

BEIRUT: Hizb Ut-Tahrir said Friday that the Military Tribunal has sentenced three of its members to three months behind bars for “demeaning the reputation of the Lebanese Army.”

The party said in a statement that Mohammad Asoum, Bilal Taha and Fouad Mansour, all residents of Tripoli, were arrested over a year ago while distributing a party statement that condemned the Army for preventing people from taking part in a demonstration called for by Hizb Ut-Tahrir in support of Syria’s uprising. Hizb Ut-Tahrir said the Army arrested the three men the next day while they were distributing a party statement.
