Palestinian security forces detain Hizb ut-Tahrir activists for leafleting against Bush’s visit

Palestine, January 10th 2008 – Palestinian security forces launched a campaign of arrests against the activists of Hizb ut-Tahrir in all parts of the West Bank, during and after they distributed a press release about the visit of the crusader American President George W Bush.

The activists of Hizb ut-Tahrir distributed their leaflets openly in markets and outside Mosques at noon today [Thursday, 10/01/2008].

The number of detainees at the time of this statement (15:06) was about thirty young activists of the party, in different regions in the north of Jenin and the south of Hebron and included arrests in the cities of Tulkarem, Qalqilya, Nablus and Ramallah.

The security forces abducted a party activist four days ago after his Friday sermon in a mosque and are still detaining him.
