Press Release

International Women’s Conference and Exhibition: “Al-Khilafah & Education: Revival of the Golden Age” to be Hosted by the Women’s Section in the Central Media Office of Hizb ut Tahrir in Coordination with Muslimah Hizb ut Tahrir Indonesia

On Saturday 11th of March, the Women’s Section in the Central Media Office of Hizb ut Tahrir, in coordination with Muslimah Hizb ut Tahrir Indonesia, will be hosting an important international women’s conference in Jakarta, Indonesia entitled, “Al-Khilafah & Education: Reviving the Golden Age” to address the education crisis currently affecting the Muslim world. The event will be attended by female speakers from Palestine, Turkey, Tunisia, the Gulf, Malaysia, the UK, the Netherlands, and Indonesia. The conference will gather around 1700 influential women, including teachers, lecturers, scholars and other experts in education, as well as university students, student activists, community leaders, journalists and representatives of organizations. The conference will include talks, panel discussions, and testimonials from delegates who will give first-hand accounts of the problems and failures of education in their regions. The event will also be livestreamed to an international audience in 3 languages: Arabic, English, and Indonesian. The conference will be preceded by a momentous exhibition on Friday 10th of March which will showcase some of the subject matters to be addressed at the conference, including the education policy and curriculum of the Khilafah. It hopes to attract visitors from across Indonesia. The conference and exhibition are the culmination of a three-week intensive global campaign on the issue of the poor state of education in the Muslim lands and how the Khilafah offers the only means to solve this crisis and build a world-class education system. Subjects to be addressed in the conference and exhibition include: what the true aim of education should be; the current intense agenda to further secularise education in the Muslim lands; the causes of the education crisis in the Muslim world; the Khilafah’s vision for education and how to create a golden generation and civilization; how the Khilafah will build a world-class higher-education system; women’s educational rights under Islamic rule; and guidance on how Islamic education should be shaped today in the absence of the Khilafah.

There is no doubt that the Muslim world is currently suffering from an ‘Education Crisis’ of significant proportions. This current dismal state of education in the region stands in stark contrast to the educational excellence that the Muslim lands once enjoyed under the Islamic rule of the Khilafah which gave great importance and support to the acquiring and dissemination of knowledge, leading to this state becoming the centre of learning for the world. It also generated an abundance of scholars and scientists and an era of great innovation and discovery, creating a glorious civilization that became the super-power of the world. This exhibition and conference therefore seek to call Muslims globally to revive this golden age of education, scholarship and scientific advancement through the re-establishment of the Khilafah based upon the method of the Prophethood which will build a magnificent civilization that will lead the world with the ideology and justice of Islam.

The conference will start at 8am on Saturday 11th March and be held at: Gedung Prajurit, Balai Sudirman Jl. Dr Saharjo no 268 Jakarta. The exhibition will take place from 8am to 5pm on Friday 10th March at: Gedung Perwira, Balai Sudirman Jl. Dr. Saharjo no. 268 Jakarta. A press conference will be held on the conference day at 12pm in the VIP Room, Gedung Prajurit, Balai Sudirman.
