LAHORE: Law enforcement officials have arrested two activists of a defunct organisation, Hizbut Tehrir, in separate raids on Saturday. Intelligence sources said a team of officials raided Hizbut Tehrir’s office in Gulberg and arrested a member.

They said another team raided Yasir Rehman’s clinic in Raiwind and arrested him. In September 2007, the city police had issued special directions to the officials concerned to monitor activities of Hizbut Tehrir’s members. The officials said the police had deployed the Special Branch and Crime Investigation Department officials to monitoring them. They said Hizbut Tehrir activists had been distributing hatred literature among people across the city. In the past, several Hizbut Tehrir activists had also been arrested for their involvement in anti-state activities. staff report
