Press Release

Hizb ut Tahrir / Britain delegation to Pakistan embassy protests abduction, torture and incarceration of Callers for Khilafah

On Friday 8th April, a delegation from Hizb ut Tahrir Britain’s Pakistan Committee, namely Asif Salahuddin, Majid Hussain, Rizwan Ahmed and Hamza Ahmed, presented a list of members of Hizb ut Tahrir in Pakistan that have been abducted and interned by the Pakistan government on false charges. They handed the Pakistan embassy in London a statement entitled: “End the Persecution of Hizb ut Tahrir, Let the Truth be told in Support of the Great Callers for the Khilafah”, which was issued by the Media Office of  Hizb ut Tahrir in the Wilayah of Pakistan.

Many of those arrested and abducted in Pakistan have suffered severe torture, including sleep deprivation, merciless beatings, forced mind-altering medication and electric shocks at the hands of security agencies. The authorities have repeatedly denied essential medical treatment and visitation rights to those in prison. And families, friends and well-wishers of both the imprisoned and abducted have been repeatedly threatened by the Pakistani security agencies.

Hizb ut Tahrir / Britain demands from the sincere Muslims in Pakistan, particularly from the people of influence within Pakistan’s judiciary, legal fraternity, security apparatus and human rights sections, to speak up now on behalf of these sincere advocates of Khilafah (Caliphate) upon the method of the Prophethood, in order to end the severe persecution being inflicted upon them.
