Press Release

Looting the Country’s Wealth in the Context of Transparency

(Translated)

The Minister of Energy and Mines Mongi Marzouk announced on Tuesday morning 14/6/2016, that Tunisia officially began today publishing of contractual documents for all valid bonds in the field of hydrocarbons in Tunisia and they number 82. He explained that the parties concerned and interested will find on the open data site the participating and Sharing of production Contracts agreements between the investor and the Tunisian institution of the petroleum activities in the framework of enhancing transparency in the field

Based on the above, we would like to emphasize the following:

1- What pushed the Minister of Energy and Mines to reveal those contracts is not of being transparent as he claims, but due to the size of the growing awareness among Muslims in Tunisia on the enormous wealth that is in their country and the great corruption surrounding the fuel contracts, and the continued people’s demand for their rights in these riches.

2- We gladly remind the minister that he cannot stop this growing tide of people of the country in demanding their rights in their wealth. The issue will not be resolved by turning the process of looting of corporate of our wealth to a transparent process. The basic issue is to reclaim the deprived rights, stipulated by Islam which considered it as public ownership, so that the due payoff of this underground resource is returned back to the people of the country.

3- The minister should have announced taking more daring decisions such as: dismissing and accounting all those involved of forsaking Tunisia’s fortunes of politicians, agents of the colonialists and corrupt owners of the capital, and the removal of foreign companies and to depend exclusively on the people of the country. This is possible, in the light of the presence of scientific and technological knowledge and especially since the people of Tunisia make up the primary group of the labour force in these fields and mines, and they can be hired in this workforce. There should be an immediate start to utilise the Tunisian desert as a source of renewable energy to achieve a self-sufficiency ratio reaching 40%.

4- We know that uprooting the foreign influence and restore the fortune to the people cannot be carried out by agents and the weak, who were unable until now to change the salt extracting contracts which are looted by colonial companies since the colonial era cheaply. The shepherd who wants to bring revival to the country and people will not surrender them to the colonialists, but will work to make them carry the ideology of Islam that reflects the people’s convictions and concepts; an ideology that revives the country and make it independent of the influence of the West and greed, and makes the Ummah self-reliant in industry, commerce, agriculture and other fields, so that it deserves to be leading and sovereign, and protect themselves with self-manufactured weapons from A to Z, and employs the oil and gas sector and appoints engineers and experts. No one will carry this unless he has the sincerity and the will and awareness and boldness.

Hizb ut Tahrir in Tunisia calls Muslims to work with it for that which brings them good and well-being by establishing the righteous Khilafah (Caliphate) on the Method of Prophethood, the rescuer of the world, and to renounce these rulers and their agreements, which sells the country and people to the greed of capitalism and humiliates them and make them beg and become:
