The Arrest of a Muslim Woman with Her Infant Child
in the City of Osh in Kyrgyzstan
(Translated)
The website www.advocacy.kg, and a number of other media outlets, published that Bourulaay Bint Rakhmongan, who is a 22 year old mother of two small children, has been arrested on 11/03/2015 in the city of Osh in Kyrgyzstan, and is now languishing in the Security Department prison in the city of Osh with her infant child, who is only three months old.
In the summer of 2013, police searched the home of our Sister Bourulaay and her case was brought to the court under the pretext of finding 13 books and 23 CDs with her. The “experts”, in the Court’s Committee of Experts said that “these books contain extremist thoughts, including thoughts indicating that the Khulafaa after the Prophet Muhammad (saw) were four and then the Khilafah ended”. And on this basis the issue of this woman was turned to the court! Most of these books were based on the Quran and the Hadith!
Bourulaay told the police, “I have taken these books from the Mosque; I did not know that they contained banned material and I do not intend to publish these books”. But they did not take these words into consideration.
In fact, this quote which is contained in that book is used by the staff in the Department of Mufti in Kyrgyzstan themselves against the Islamic groups that are working to establish the Khilafah State on the method of the Prophethood through political action. They are relying in their sermons on such ideas and they spread them between the people in order to divert their focus away from the Khilafah! So why were those staff not arrested because of spreading extremist ideas?!
The court sentenced our Sister, Borelaa, a one-year conditional sentence due to retaining these books in her house! This penalty does not apply to Article 299 of the Criminal Code, because that article states that a citizen shall be punished if he or she retains in his or her home terrorism-related objects or has published them.
Because their constitution stipulates that every citizen has the right to read any information about any ideas, or to oppose those ideas or to educate his or her children properly and so … and to protect these rights the President was elected by the people, and was given the proxy to protect those rights. However, women in Kyrgyzstan do not enjoy these rights, and they do not know where to take this information! This is because it does not exist in Kyrgyzstan, a list of banned books. Had it been, then this list must be announced to the people through the media and TV, at least once a month, according to the law. Otherwise, how will our vulnerable women like our sister Bourulaay know the contents of books and know their rights?!
Furthermore, they did not indicate for our sister, Bourulaay, even the duties of a citizen, which are sentenced to conditional punishment. So, our sister, Bourulaay, did not know where to go and suffered greatly between the police department and other departments. For this reason she did not prove her presence on time because of the hardship and suffering, but the security personnel dared, brazenly and shamelessly, and they arrested her!
Yes, they have dared to do this action! Because this woman is a Muslim! As such, they assaulted the Islamic environment in which all the powers account for in the elections and other political work! And they thus have underestimated the feelings of the Muslims! This is because woman in Islam is an honor that must be protected. Therefore, the assault on her is considered an assault on our honor! We do not know our sister, this, personally, but what is the difference? The government began assaulting our sisters! It is not fitting for us to wait for the arrest of our brothers and sisters. Instead it is on each and every one of us, irrespective of his or her position and stature in the community, and even the President of the Republic, to stand up against this tyranny as much as we can.
Otherwise we will be gathered on the Day of Resurrection- Allah forbid – with the hypocrites, the Kaffirs and the oppressors, or with the ignorant and the Dayuth (the one who flaunts his women); who remained silent on these vices and agreed with them!
We say to the Muslims who order such vices or who implement them, that you are feeding your children by insulting your sisters! If you believe that provision is in Allah’s hands alone, then these acts of immorality are a disobedience to Allah! So hasten to repent to Allah or otherwise await the torment of Allah, and Allah is severe in punishment!
