Friday khutbah from HT Britain on Pakistan crisis

 

 

[FIRST KHUTBAH]

O you who Believe, Allah has told us in His Book

وَالَّذينَ كَفَرُواْ بَعْضُهُمْ أَوْلِيَاء بَعْضٍ إِلاَّ تَفْعَلُوهُ تَكُن فِتْنَةٌ فِي الأَرْضِ وَفَسَادٌ كَبِيرٌ

And those who disbelieve are allies of one another, (and) if you (Muslims of the whole world collectively) do not do so [i.e. become allies, as one united block under one Khalifah to make victorious Allâh’s religion], there will be Fitnah and oppression on the earth, and a great mischief and corruption (8:73)

My dear brothers in Islam, Allah (swt) is telling us, the Muslim Ummah, that the disbelievers are allies, protectors of one another. They help one another. They support one another. In what do they help and support one another? Against the Muslims. And this help and support against the Muslims can be political, it can be economical, it can be military or all of these.

And Allah warns us – that if we are not together, if we do not help and support one another, strengthen one another, unite together under one leadership, then there will be fitnah and corruption upon the earth.

And the example of lack of unity upon Islam, behind one leader, is when we fight one another. Our Prophet has said

«إِذَا تَوَاجَهَ الْمُسْلِمَانِ بِسَيْفَيْهِمَا فَالْقَاتِلُ وَالْمَقْتُولُ فِى النَّارِ ».قِيلَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ هَذَا الْقَاتِلُ فَمَا بَالُ الْمَقْتُولِ قَالَ « إِنَّهُ قَدْ أَرَادَ قَتْلَ صَاحِبِهِ »

“If two Muslims face each other with their swords, then the killer and the killed are in hellfire”. It was said O Messenger of Allah, that is the killer, but what about the one who is killed? He said “He wanted to kill his companion” (Muslim)

So for a Muslim to kill another Muslim, to fight each other, to abuse the sanctity of the blood of the believers, is a grave sin for both the parties involved. And when the Muslims fall into fighting each other, killing each other, contradicting the rules of Allah, then most definitely there will be a great fitnah and fasaad on the earth.

This has been the case throughout history; the disbelievers were never able to defeat the Muslims except when the Muslims had defeated themselves. When the Muslims were united, under the flag of Allah, supporting the Deen of Islam then Allah granted them many victories, with Islam spreading across the globe from the Middle East out into Asia, North Africa and into parts of Europe.

Subsequently, when the Muslims fell into infighting, killing one another, then defeat came to them. The crusaders from one side, and the Mongols from the other. The European Crusaders, who previously were fighting one another over their small kingdoms, united under the banner of expansion and targeting the Muslim Ummah. The Mongols, had also previously been fighting and competing with one another, also united under one supreme leader who took their warrior culture and targeted expansion with it.

So the disbelievers were allies to one another, against the Muslims, and the Muslims were disunited, fighting and competing amongst each other, so the Muslims suffered defeat and humiliation, and most definitely all kinds of fitnah and fasad was spread in the lands which had previously been under the shade of the Mercy of Allah and His Deen.

And the victory for the Muslims, which came at the hands of men like Nur-ul Deen, Salahudeen Ayyoubi, Qutuz, Baybirs, came when the Muslims were united, defended by the Imaam and fighting together from behind him like mentioned.

إِنَّمَا الإِمَامُ جُنَّةٌ يُقَاتَلُ مِنْ وَرَائِهِ وَيُتَّقَى بِهِ

Only the Imaam is a shield, (the Muslims) fight from behind him and are protected by him

This is the lesson given to us by history, and this is the lesson confirmed to us by the Prophet Muhammad, and this is the lesson that Allah has informed us of in the Quran. That the disbelievers are helpers of one another against the Muslims, and unless we are unified then there will be disaster afflicting all the peoples of the Earth.

It is not permitted, in any way whatsoever, to take the disbelievers as helpers and protectors, as Allah has told us in the Quran

يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ لاَ تَتَّخِذُواْ الْيَهُودَ وَالنَّصَارَى أَوْلِيَاء بَعْضُهُمْ أَوْلِيَاء بَعْضٍ وَمَن يَتَوَلَّهُم مِّنكُمْ فَإِنَّهُ مِنْهُمْ إِنَّ اللّهَ لاَ يَهْدِي الْقَوْمَ الظَّالِمِينَ

O you who believe! Take not the Jews and the Christians as Auliyâ’ (friends, protectors, helpers), they are but Auliyâ’ of each other. And if any amongst you takes them (as Auliyâ’), then surely he is one of them. Verily, Allâh guides not those people who are the Zâlimûn (5:51)

It is not permitted, to take them as advisors in our Deen and our politics, to leave for them to manage our affairs, to refer to them for guidance –

يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ لاَ تَتَّخِذُواْ بِطَانَةً مِّن دُونِكُمْ لاَ يَأْلُونَكُمْ خَبَالاً وَدُّواْ مَا عَنِتُّمْ قَدْ بَدَتِ الْبَغْضَاء مِنْ أَفْوَاهِهِمْ وَمَا تُخْفِي صُدُورُهُمْ أَكْبَرُ قَدْ بَيَّنَّا لَكُمُ الآيَاتِ إِن كُنتُمْ تَعْقِلُونَ

O you who believe! Take not as (your) Bitânah (advisors, protectors) those outside your religion since they will not fail to do their best to corrupt you. They desire to harm you severely. Hatred has already appeared from their mouths, but what their breasts conceal is far worse. Indeed We have made plain to you the Ayât if you understand (3:118)

It is not permitted, to make peace with, let alone follow and obey and refer to – those people who fight us for our Deen, who have thrown us out of our houses,

إِنَّمَا يَنْهَاكُمُ اللَّهُ عَنِ الَّذِينَ قَاتَلُوكُمْ فِي الدِّينِ وَأَخْرَجُوكُم مِّن دِيَارِكُمْ وَظَاهَرُوا عَلَى إِخْرَاجِكُمْ أَن تَوَلَّوْهُمْ وَمَن يَتَوَلَّهُمْ فَأُوْلَئِكَ هُمُ الظَّالِمُونَ

It is only as regards those who fought against you on account of religion, and have driven you out of your homes, and helped to drive you out, that Allâh forbids you to befriend them. And whosoever will befriends them, then such are the Zâlimûn (60:9)

None of this is allowed for us as Muslims, and when we do not unify together but rather fight amongst each other, then as our Prophet has told us –

لا ظهر في قوم القتل يقتل بعضهم بعضا إلا سلط الله عليهم عدوهم

Never does killing amongst a people appear, each killing the other, except that Allah makes their enemy sovereign over them (Tabarani)

Such fighting, only leads to defeat and humiliation, and it is only through unity under Islam that this ummah can have izza and the victory from Allah.

[SECOND KHUTBAH]

إن الحمد لله و اشهد إلا اله إلا الله و حده لا شريك له و اشهد أن محمد عبده و رسوله

Allah has told us in the Quran –

لَّا يَتَّخِذِ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنُونَ ٱلۡكَـٰفِرِينَ أَوۡلِيَآءَ مِن دُونِ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ‌ۖ وَمَن يَفۡعَلۡ ذَٲلِكَ فَلَيۡسَ مِنَ ٱللَّهِ فِى شَىۡءٍ

Let not the believers take the disbelievers as Auliyâ (supporters, helpers) instead of the believers, and whoever does that will never be helped by Allâh in any way (3:28)

This is what happens brothers, as Allah informs us, when we fight each other rather than our enemy. And worse than that, when we allow our enemy to dictate to us which of our brothers we should kill today, and which of our brothers we should kill tomorrow.

And so we see the history repeating itself again – this time in Pakistan, where we have heard the Prime Minister Gilani a few weeks ago on the 8th of May stating “for the sanctity of this pure land, for national dignity, to suppress the extremists, to ensure the protection of people, the army has been deployed.”, thereby announcing the start of a war in SWAT.

In whose benefit is this war? For whose interests was this war started? What has been and what will be the consequences of this war?

The claim is that this war is for the “sanctity of this pure land” – a land whose soil was irrigated by the blood of Muslims who sacrificed themselves and their wealth in the dream that an Islamic state was going to be established, not a state that has become little more than a proxy for successive American administrations..

For the “national dignity” – which has surely been lost in any case while a fraudster leads the country? A man whose reputation is so poor that it is considered an embarrassment that such a buffoon is the official representative of the country. Where is the national dignity – when the most they can say against American drone attacks in SWAT is that they should be stopped because they are not in America’s interest? Is there a nation anymore, or is the Pakistani government in fact a branch of the US State Ddepartment?

In order to “suppress the extremists” and to “ensure the protection of the people” – and yet the American army, who it has been revealed this week have actual photographic evidence of their soldiers raping and molesting our sister in Iraqi jails, are left to bomb the Pakistani people from pilotless drones which take off from land strips within Pakistan.

Gilani had the audacity to claim that the groups they are fighting in SWAT were “challenging the writ” of the central government. The writ of a central government so strong that they have done nothing to practically stop the Americans from bombing their own people. The writ of a central government so strong that the Interior Minister Rehman Malik made his announcement this week that the fighting in SWAT would continue until its “logical end” after returning from a trip to his true President in Washington. How can it be that an Interior Minister of a country takes orders from another country’s capital except that this shows that the Pakistani government is not independent. All of this shows that “challenging the writ of central government” means challenging the writ of the American government, of which Gilani and Zardari are nothing more than civil servants under the State Department.

Let no one be in any doubt that this war is an American war, to help the Americans in their failed imperial war in Afghanistan, to make Muslims fight Muslims, to weaken one of the strongest Muslims states and armies, and to ultimately lead to the division of Pakistan and the strengthening of India as the strategic ally of America in the region.

This is a war that was started at the request of Hillary Clinton when she said that Pakistan was in danger of falling into “terrorist hands” due to “failed government policies”. This kind of false propaganda is the same false propaganda that the Americans used against Iraq before the invasion in 2003. This is scare mongering in order to further American interests by making the Pakistani army fight its own people rather than defend its own people. This is scare mongering in order to further the American plan to divide Pakistan and strengthen India as its regional ally.

In the last few years US Lt. Col, Ralph Peters in an article entitled “Blood Borders” wrote about how it was in the American interest to divide Pakistan into 3 pieces, to control the resources of Baluchistan, to remove the threat of a nuclear power in Muslim hands, and to help strengthen India – continuing what Condoleezza Rice said in 2005, that the US would “help” India to become a “great power”.

Today, the special representative for the US in Afghan and Pakistan is Richard Holbrooke – the man responsible for the term “balkanization” – which is what the US government wants to now achieve with Pakistan.

It is up to us as Muslims to make our best effort to prevent this from taking place. These are critical times for our brothers and sisters in Pakistan. By starting this internal civil war, now more than 2 million are displaced within Pakistan, unknown numbers of civilians have been killed, and there is so little help and support that there are reports that dogs in the street eat the dead bodies of our brothers and sisters. This war, started in order to please the American government, is creating the seeds for bitterness and tribal conflict within Pakistan that could rip it apart, as seen by the bombs in Lahore and Peshawar this week – bombs which serve no ones interests except the Americans.

Isn’t it high time for the people to speak against these rulers who are liars and traitors to Islam and the Muslim ummah? When the Americans wanted to weaken and divide Iraq they had to enter the country with their own troops, and install their own agents to incite the beginning of sectarian conflict, and yet in Pakistan the rulers are willing accomplices, who are so evil that they are happy to co-operate in inciting sectarian and tribal conflict that would ultimately lead to the destruction of their people!!!

Allah has told us

لَّا تَجِدُ قَوۡمً۬ا يُؤۡمِنُونَ بِٱللَّهِ وَٱلۡيَوۡمِ ٱلۡأَخِرِ يُوَآدُّونَ مَنۡ حَآدَّ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ ۥ وَلَوۡ ڪَانُوٓاْ ءَابَآءَهُمۡ أَوۡ أَبۡنَآءَهُمۡ أَوۡ إِخۡوَٲنَهُمۡ أَوۡ عَشِيرَتَہُمۡ

You (O Muhammad SAW) will not find any people who believe in Allâh and the Last Day, making friendship with those who oppose Allâh and His Messenger, even though they were their fathers or their sons or their brothers or their kindred (people) (58:22)

It is upon all of us, to do what we can to struggle against this – by talking against the American war to destroy Pakistan by making Muslim fight Muslim, by explaining it to our friends, family and community, by speaking against it in our masajid, by accounting those we know in the army – how can they continue to take orders from these traitors and misfits who have no dignity nor any izza whatsoever! Is it not time for the Believers to obey their Lord, to support one another and establish the khilafah?

وَٱلۡمُؤۡمِنُونَ وَٱلۡمُؤۡمِنَـٰتُ بَعۡضُهُمۡ أَوۡلِيَآءُ بَعۡضٍ۬‌ۚ يَأۡمُرُونَ بِٱلۡمَعۡرُوفِ وَيَنۡهَوۡنَ عَنِ ٱلۡمُنكَرِ وَيُقِيمُونَ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَيُؤۡتُونَ ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ وَيُطِيعُونَ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ

The believers, men and women, are Auliyâ’ of one another; they enjoin Al-Ma‘rûf, and forbid from Al-Munkar; they perform As-Salât, and give the Zakât, and obey Allâh and His Messenger (9:71)

On Sunday – there are marches organized across Pakistan to expose this ugly American plan and the governments complicity in implementing it, and there is a march which will take place in London at the same time to support our brothers and sisters in Pakistan, which will begin at 12 pm in front of the American Embassy – the representatives of the architects of this plan, and will march to the Pakistani embassy to account those who are representatives of the implementors of this plan, May Allah accept it
