Member of international extremist group detained in Moscow

The law-enforcement agencies together with the police have detained an active member of the Hizb ut-Tahrir al-Islami international terrorist organization, the Interior Ministry reports Wednesday.

At the end of this September, several provocative videos appeared on the Internet. Thus, during the Friday prayers on September 27, in mosques in different cities of the country, radically minded individuals publicly made calls to join the Hizb ut-Tahrir al-Islami party.

The greatest public resonance was caused by a record made on the territory of the Yardyam mosque in the Otradnoye district of Moscow, containing open calls for hostile activities against the Russian Federation.

“As a result of a complex of investigative measures, a citizen of the Republic of Uzbekistan was arrested, who had been previously convicted of extremist activities and who was illegally staying on the territory of the Russian Federation”, – the report says.
