Press Release

A Regime that removes the Poor’s Rights and gives it to the Wealthy in the Name of Constructional (urban?) Planning

(Translated)

The Ministry of Constructional Planning in the Khartoum District issued a resolution for the removal of the Al-Gasharat area for a number of 88 families, the Al-Istithmar Al-Sinaii (Industrial Investment) Quarter of 67 families, Al-Takamul (Integrated) quarter of 133 families and Al-Bahr Sea quarter of 300 families in the area of Shajarat (Tree) south Khartoum. The Ministry reasoned its decision for the removal as being part of the framework of the ministry’s efforts to remove shanties for the sake of public health, the welfare of the residents and the development of the areas on the condition of evicting the residents of these areas to the Fath city in the outskirts of the city Omdurman.

The areas to be removed have been populated for decades, actually the Al-Bahr quarter is considered one of the oldest quarters in Khartoum dating back to the forties. Why remove it for the reason of public health, the welfare of the residents and the development of the areas?!

This despotic regime is based upon greedy principles of Capitalism, it does not consider people nor their welfare, rather it looks upon people as the ones that have money and they are the ones that pay for the high-rise buildings. The real duty should be to help the residents of these areas by connecting water and electricity supplies to them, paving the roads and other essential services. It is possible to plan the area with modern architecture and to distribute amenities amongst the people already residing there, as these, by all means, are most eligible to the land they live on, the Prophet (saw) says:

«مَنْ أَحَاطَ حَائِطًا عَلَى أَرْضٍ فَهِيَ لَهُ»

Whoever encloses a wall around his land, then it is his”.

And on the authority of Samura who said, Allah’s Prophet (saw) said:

«من أحاط على شيء فهو أحق به وليس لعرق ظالم حق»

Whoever encloses (with a wall) a thing, he is more entitled to it and not even the vein of an oppressor has any right (upon it)”.

The land is not the state’s possession so that it may take it away from one person and give it to another, rather the state should interfere for the sake of bettering the guardianship, which is not found in the like of these regimes that encroach on the breasts of people and that has no other concern than taking their money unjustly.

The Khilafah Rashida State (Caliphate) based upon the method of the Prophethood, which will soon rise inshallah, will not remove the housing of the weak for the purpose of investing in the strong and rich, rather the Khilafah will build safe housing for the ones that cannot build themselves and give them all the comforts needed while viewing this as its responsibility and not an endowment and stamina from it, because the Khilafah is the state of guardianship not the state of money collection. Healthy housing is one of the essential needs, the Lord Most Great and Almighty says:

أَسْكِنُوهُنَّ مِنْ حَيْثُ سَكَنْتُمْ مِنْ وُجْدِكُمْ

“Lodge them [in a section] of where you dwell out of your means” [Al-Talaq: 6]

And the Prophet (saw) says:

«مَنْ أَصْبَحَ مِنْكُمْ آمِنًا فِي سِرْبِهِ، مُعَافًا فِي جَسَدِهِ، عِنْدَهُ طَعَامُ يَوْمٍ، فَكَأَنَّمَا حِيزَتْ لَهُ الدُّنْيَا بِحَذَافِيرِها»

Whoever wakes up secure in his family with a healthy body, having food for the day, it is as if the entire world is given to him”.
