Press Release: Gathering of Female Opinion-Makers from Across Southeast Asia to Address the Plight of Rohingya Women and Children
Gathering of Female Opinion-Makers from Across Southeast Asia
to Address the Plight of Rohingya Women and Children
On Saturday 6th June in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, the Women’s Section in the Central Media Office of Hizb ut Tahrir will be hosting a gathering of female opinion-makers from across Southeast Asia to address the solution to the desperate plight of Rohingya women and children. The event entitled, “Rohingya: Stateless at Sea OR Part of the Khairu Ummah” is part of a global campaign that has been launched to bring international attention to the worsening and horrendous persecution, violence, exploitation and repressive government policies that Myanmar’s Rohingya women and children are being subjected to simply because they are Muslim, which is forcing thousands to flee from the country in search of refuge. Speeches will be delivered by female members of Hizb ut Tahrir from Malaysia, Indonesia, Australia, and the Arab world. The event will also include testimonies from Rohingya women as well as Muslim women from Bangladesh, Malaysia and Indonesia regarding the horrific plight of this persecuted, abandoned, and stateless people. The gathering will be preceded by a press conference and will be live-streamed to viewers internationally.
In addition to highlighting the inconceivable scale of human suffering being endured by Rohingya women and children, speakers will also place the spotlight on the inhumane nationalistic and capitalist regimes and systems of the Muslim world which have treated these desperate Muslims in such an abysmal, scandalous manner. They have turned their backs to the genocide against the Rohingya, failed to rescue with urgency the thousands of starving, dehydrated and sick migrants stranded at sea, and refused to provide them adequate refuge and basic rights. In fact, such heartless governments have been unwilling to take one step to save their brothers and sisters from the brutal repression of the merciless Myanmar dictatorship; not even breaking diplomatic relations with this murderous regime. The event will also question whether hope or trust should be placed in ASEAN or the laws and solutions of the international community, which has embraced Burma’s criminal regime, to resolve this crisis. Indeed their futile talks, conferences and diplomatic missions have proven repeatedly to be time-wasting exercises that have achieved nothing for Myanmar’s Muslims or the oppressed Muslims of Syria, Central Africa, China and elsewhere.
The gathering will address the immediate actions that should be taken by governments of the Muslim world to save the Rohingya women and children, emphasizing the bond of Muslim brotherhood that obliges Muslims to provide protection without hesitation or delay to their brothers and sisters who are in desperate need of their help, for the Prophet (saw) said, «الْمُسْلِمُ أَخُو الْمُسْلِمِ، لاَ يَظْلِمُهُ، وَلاَ يُسْلِمُهُ، وَمَنْ كَانَ فِي حَاجَةِ أَخِيهِ، كَانَ اللَّهُ فِي حَاجَتِهِ» “A Muslim is a brother of another Muslim. So he should neither oppress him nor hand him over to an oppressor. And whoever fulfilled the needs of his brother, Allah will fulfill his needs.” In addition, speakers will explain why it is the urgent establishment of the Khilafah state upon the method of the Prophethood – a system that truly represents the interests of Muslims and Islam – which will provide a concrete and permanent solution to the oppression of Muslims in Myanmar and globally, by removing the colonial-imposed borders between our Muslim lands and providing persecuted Muslims with security, a home and a dignified life.
The event will be held at 3pm Malaysia time (8am GMT) on Saturday 6th June at Nouvelle Hotel, 8th KM, Kuala Lumpur Seremban Highway Sungai Besi, 43300 Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Press Conference will be at 2pm Malaysia time (7am GMT) and will be open to male and female journalists, but only female journalists will be permitted to attend the gathering. The event can be watched live at www.htmedia.info. Press accreditation please contact: [email protected]. The campaign can be followed at www.facebook.com/WomenandShariah.
