Press Release

International Women’s Conference: “Muslim Youth: Pioneers of Real Change” to be hosted by the Women’s Section in the Central Media Office of Hizb ut Tahrir

On Saturday 7th May, the Women’s Section in the Central Media Office of Hizb ut Tahrir will be hosting an international women’s conference entitled, “Muslim Youth: Pioneers of Real Change” to address the global challenges to the Islamic identity of Muslim youth across the world. This important event will take the format of seminars held in three countries on the same day: Tunisia, Indonesia, and the UK, with speakers from the Muslim world, Asia and Europe, participating in the talks and discussions. Hundreds of influential women are set to attend the seminars in the three countries, including teachers, scholars, youth workers, university students, youth activists, politicians, journalists, leaders of the community, and representatives of organisations. The conference will be live-streamed to an international audience in 3 languages: Arabic, English, and Indonesian. The conference is the culmination of a three-week intensive global campaign on the subject that has enjoyed extensive support from Muslims across the world. Subjects to be discussed in the conference include: the global strategy being pursued by secular governments and international organisations to win Muslim youth to the secular liberal way of life and its system; the secularization of the education curricula and environment of schools; the correct manner to educate children to build Islamic personalities; the impact of social web media and the celebrity culture on Muslim youth and how to counter its negative influences; how to address the identity crisis affecting many young Muslims today; and how to build the Muslim youth to become pioneers of real change who can build a better future for the Muslim Ummah and the rest of the world InshaAllah. The conference will also include talks and panel discussions addressing the regional problems and challenges facing Muslim youth in the West, in the Muslim world and Asia as well as testimonials from attendees – including from teachers, mothers and youth – giving first-hand accounts of the issues facing young Muslims that they have witnessed and dealt with in their communities.

There is no doubt that there is a global ideological struggle being waged by secular international organisations and Western governments aided by the non-Islamic regimes of the Muslim world with the aim to secularise the thinking and personalities of the Muslim youth. This includes coercing them through fear-tactics to abandon specific Islamic beliefs and practices, including speaking of the concerns of their Ummah and their Deen, by linking them to extremism or terrorism. Various means have been employed in this strategy including the intensive ‘de-Islamicisation’ programmes implemented upon Muslim children by secular states across the world under the deceptive banner of ‘counter-radicalisation’ as well as the extensive efforts being taken to secularise the education curricula in schools, madrassahs, and universities in the Muslim world. Furthermore, when we as an Ummah became complacent in the implementation of the Islamic laws and its system, the Khilafah, in our lands, it enabled non-Islamic ideas to penetrate our societies. It also allowed the intensive promotion of liberal media within the Muslim world which glamourized the liberal way of life alongside demonizing the beliefs and laws of Islam. This led to the Westernization of the thinking, inclinations, aspirations, behaviour and allegiances of many Muslim youth causing them to suffer from the same problems as youth in the West as well as removing and distancing them from their Deen.

This conference will therefore address this important subject and provide guidance as to how to counter the international strategies against the identity of our children. It will also present a clear path as to how to create Muslim youth who are confident in their Islamic beliefs, equipped to defend attacks against their Deen, and empowered to be pioneers of real change, building a better future for humanity through the light and justice of Islam.

The seminars will start at: 11am in the UK; 11am in Tunisia; 9am in Indonesia local time. (A press conference will take place in the Indonesia seminar at: 12 noon local time at Yudhistira Hall, Jogja Expo Centre, Jalan Raya Janti, 55281 Yogyakarta).
