(Translated)
The Minister of State at the Ministry of Social Security, Kamal Hassan Ali, confirmed the recommendations of the workshop presenting a study of women’s participation in the general elections in 2010, which produced results and recommendations that confirms the strength of the future of the next elections. The workshop organized by the Centre for Women’s Human Rights in the presence of a number of Ministers and Ministers of State and Deputy Minister and Director of the Law Center, and civil society organizations, in which the minister in his address on Thursday, 22/1/2015 at the Friendship Hall in Khartoum, described the study that it met all terms of scientific research.
The minister expressed his expectation that the participation of women in the upcoming elections will be wider than it was in previous elections, and he praised the Centre for Women’s Human Rights and all the gains made by Sudanese women in all fields and demanded more than double the effort and to provide legal support and political empowerment of women. The minister said that the current broad political participation of women did not come from a vacuum, and not for compliment to decorate the form of the state, but was well-deserved and out of competence.
It is noteworthy that the study included the analysis of data in addition to the field survey, which took place in five states, it revealed that women’s participation was the highest in the 2010 elections compared with men at a rate of 52% compared to 48% for men, and the overall satisfaction of the elections reached 65% and 75% of them asserted their readiness for the upcoming elections [Sudan News Agency].
The participation of women in the previous election is cooperation in sin and aggression, it must not be praised but should be condemned, because it is participation in the elections that gave legitimacy to the separation of South Sudan from the north. This heinous crime; it is also a participation to choose the President of the Republic who represents the will of the people, and does not judge by what Allah has revealed, it also founded a parliament that legislates according to the whims of humans, and so the permissible became prohibited and vise versa. Allah (swt) says:
فَاحْكُمْ بَيْنَهُمْ بِمَا أَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ وَلَا تَتَّبِعْ أَهْوَاءَهُمْ عَمَّا جَاءَكَ مِنَ الْحَقِّ
“So judge between them by what Allah has revealed and do not follow their inclinations away from what has come to you of the truth” [Al-Ma’ida: 48]
The duty of women, as is the duty of men in Sudan, is not to participate in these elections, but they must cooperate in righteousness and piety to work hard for the bring the Law of Allah into the authority in the Islamic state; the Khilafah State, which its time has come; sovereign in it is for the laws of Islam and its values and sanctities. There is no value to any referendum or opinion contrary to the Shariah rule, whether detailed or brief, and whatever the number of voters are who are voting for it or against.
The Muslim woman must be proud of the great role she is entrusted with by Islam in the political life on the basis of Islam in an Islamic society, which the participation as men, alike in choosing a Khaleefah and holding him accountable for any failure or deviation from the application of Shariah, or lack of care for the interests of the Ummah as appropriate. This role that is robbed from women in exchange for participation to find that which distances her from the Shariah of Allah (swt), He (swt) says:
وَمَنْ أَعْرَضَ عَنْ ذِكْرِي فَإِنَّ لَهُ مَعِيشَةً ضَنْكًا
“And whoever turns away from My remembrance – indeed, he will have a depressed life, and We will gather him on the Day of Resurrection blind.” [Ta-ha: 124]
This study was published at this time for political mobilization and blackmail, and the re-production of the sin of ruling by other than what Allah has revealed to give false legitimacy to oppressive rulings, Allah (swt) says:
وَمَنْ لَمْ يَحْكُمْ بِمَا أَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ فَأُولَئِكَ هُمُ الظَّالِمُون
“And whoever does not judge by what Allah has revealed – then it is those who are the disbelievers” [Al-Ma’ida: 44]
Those who were not formerly aware of the weight of the crime and gravity of the sin, perhaps Allah wanted good for them, so that they repentance from a great sin by declining to participate in the upcoming elections; furthermore in order to carry out their political Shariah role of enjoining the good and forbidding the evil through political and intellectual struggle to change misconceptions and the political hypocrisy to create a public opinion emanating from public awareness regarding the ideas and concepts of Islam which are effective to restore the guided Khilafah upon the method of Prophethood.
