Press Release: Corruption in Kenya

Corruption in Kenya

Once again, Kenya is in the world spotlight over corruption. According to a survey on prevalence of economic crimes released in Nairobi on Friday 26th February 2016 by the audit firm Price Waterhouse Coopers (PwC), Kenya has been ranked the third most corrupt country in the world. This is according to the survey, Kenya only fared better than South Africa and France. The findings come a few days after President Uhuru Kenyatta said Kenyans were experts in stealing, whining and perpetuating tribalism. The President’s views were preceded by Chief Justice Willy Mutunga during a newspaper interview weeks before where he told Dutch newspaper NRC Handelsblad that Kenya had become a bandit economy where corruption pervaded all levels of society.

In this regard the Islamic organization Hizb ut Tahrir East Africa wishes to expound the following:

Since Kenya is bound to the Western Capitalist ideology, it is therefore not strange to be susceptible to the evil of corruption. A system infested with the intense cupidity to amass wealth by all means and costs. This makes the entire political class within the capitalist regime to be meddled with theft and corruption.

The periodical conducted surveys which thereafter come up with findings of ranking nations with high rates of corruption, bribery, poverty etc.,  all are helpless and have nothing to curb these atrocities. The findings are only helpful to give us little information and figures while the whole world today is faced with countless crises.  Furthermore, these surveys normally aim at bridging the shame and ills of Capitalism which we have kept saying it is solely the root cause of all calamities facing the world.

Leaders and all capitalist politicians are not expected to expunge corruption since the reality of leadership in the capitalist ideology is an opportunity to amass and plunder public wealth. In order to cover this heinous evil is their regular initiate of Commissions of fighting corruption while the same commissions are used to serve as safe havens for the corrupt. As for their shouting on the rooftops in the name of condemning and exposing corruption is just mare fallacies to hoodwink the citizens and whip public emotions to their advantage by appearing as if they are political-concerned and exposing other enemy politicians as bad while both are the same when it comes to looting public coffers.

Lastly as we keep repeating that since the root cause of corruption is the filthy capitalist system, there is a need to completely uproot this system and replacing it with Islam – a just and true ideology implemented in the form of the Khilafah Rashidah (Caliphate) upon the method of the Prophethood.  For thirteen centuries which Islam ruled half of the globe the cases of corruption were rare if any.
